Web design is an important element of any website. Quality content can be overshadowed by bad design and/or a poor layout. This can also affect click-through rates on pages and the site’s bounce rate. Additionally, when building a website you must also think of the size of the device your site will be viewed on. No longer is it appropriate to design simply for a computer monitor – you need to also take into consideration smartphones, tablets, and large monitors.
I work with a team of designers to help deliver a beautiful website that is easy to manage, responsive in its design, and optimized to ensure that your viewers find the content they are looking for quickly. If you have a design in mind heading into a project, we can talk about how to best implement it. I can also advise you as to the best way to re-brand or re-design your existing website. For examples of some recent website re-designs, check out SimpliciousMagazine and Fairfield Green Food Guide.
Typically the process starts during our initial meeting. It’s helpful to have a list of websites whose designs/layouts appeal to you. From there, I work with designers to create a mockup of your proposed site, and with your approval we move forward to developing the site. In other cases, we can select a pre-build WordPress theme whose layout appeals to you. This cuts down on the cost of design and development considerably, and gives us both a great starting point to work from.
I keep up to date on the latest standards and practices in this fast changing industry by frequenting area Meetup.com web design/development groups and following design blogs.
