Connecticut Web Design & WordPress Expert, Clinton Warren
I built my first website in 1998 on Geocities, complete with animated flame dividers and all. I had always been fascinated by technology growing up, and dabbled a bit with computer programming when I was younger. During high school and college, I got sidetracked by athletics and the pursuit of a degree in business. I attended Tufts University then later transferred to Fairfield University to pursue a degree in International Business. In May of 2007, I started an internship at The Lewis Group, a sales team responsible for introducing new business to its parent company, Vision Financial Markets. Upon graduation at Fairfield, I was offered a full-time position at The Lewis Group which I gladly accepted.
It was during this time that one of my responsibilities became maintaining and creating websites for our financial clients. Our clients were small to mid-sized futures and option brokerage firms throughout the country. I began taking classes to brush up on my HTML and CSS and catch up on all the changes in web design that had happened since I built my first site 10 years prior. I gained exposure to search engine optimization strategy, link building, and most importantly, WordPress.
I started using WordPress when approached by a client who needed a blog. Within a few days of playing around with the software, I was hooked. I couldn’t believe how rapidly it sped up the development process. Websites that would previously takes weeks to build could now be published in days. I was also drawn to the huge community behind it, including the local Meetup.com groups that I started attending regularly and presenting at – WordPress Stamford Meetup, Hudson Valley WordPress, WordPress Westchester Meetup, WordPress Developers New Haven, and WordPress NYC Meetup Group.
In 2010 I left the Lewis Group after 3.5 amazing years. I decided to pursue a career as a freelance web developer in addition to my dream of becoming a personal trainer. I have always held fitness close to my heart, and hoped to motivate and inspire others. While studying for my ACE Personal Training Certification, I began building sites for local businesses. I slowly built up a sustainable business and established relationships with a network of designers, developers, and technology professionals in Connecticut.
I received my personal training certification in May 2010, followed shortly after by my Crossfit Level 1 Certification. I worked as a personal trainer for private clients and still offer online and in-person training, but building websites is my passion. I genuinely enjoy working with others to deliver a quality product that we are all proud of, a website that will help bring traffic and sales to your business.
